This is a fascinating look into the ever-shifting sands of corporate Scientology hype. J. Swift pulled this up from the Wayback Machine. I am sure a certain individual who cannot be named would rather it remain buried and forgotten. But unfortunately the small handful of bitter defrocked apostate unemployed bloggers on the fringes of the internet don’t listen….
Back in 2004/5, COB’s Ideal Orgs were the “big thing.” GAG II was just a twinkle in the great man’s eye at the time. Ideal Orgs were THE THING.
Seattle ED Mark Arnold sent around a briefing to urge his people to get behind the Ideal Org program, and within his briefing he faithfully forwarded the campaign that was being run at the time. I include the entire briefing below, but wanted to highlight a few important points right up front.
One need only look at the empty, sad state of Seattle “Ideal” Org today to understand what a massive failure this program has been in all respects other than increasing the real estate holdings of the church. But it really is interesting to be reminded of the hype at the time. This briefing was probably sent out by virtually every org to all their public.
COB makes the point that we are currently in the Div 6 phase of Scientology expansion, having moved through the other phases of the Org Board earlier in our history. Organizations go through phases of expansion that parallel the Org Board. We went through the HCO phase in the early 80s followed by the Dissemination phase in the mid to late 80s. Then with the IRS win in 93 the Treasury phase followed by Tech with the Golden Age of Tech in the mid 90s. The Qual phase took place with the “Arbitraries cancelled” evolution of a couple of years ago and now we are in the Div 6 phase.
Wow, this “Div 6 phase” has really been rocking along. You will see in the briefing a lot of time is devoted to the fact that Div 6 is not JUST getting in new public. So, let’s take a look at how much progress was made on the “Div 6 Phase” (seems to have slipped back to Div 4/5 based on this theory with GAG II, or maybe its all the way back to the Div 1 phase with the wholesale declares).
There are NO new people coming into orgs anywhere on earth.
Scientology PR is worse than it has ever been.
There are less Field Auditors than at any time in history.
The Mission network is contracting.
Narconon has practically closed its doors because they continue to have people die under their care or are defrauding them or insurance companies or both.
Applied Scholastics “international headquarters” has been taken over by the NOI as a couples retreat and there is a lot of news about Applied Scholastics Schools being shut down — most recently Will Smith’s school in LA.
WTH seems to have fallen into a hole and disappeared off the face of the earth. So too Criminon.
That is hardly a “booming, straight up and vertical” Div 6 phase.
In looking into this COB found the “Why” (See definition of “Why” in Admin Dictionary) for this situation which he stated as “They were trying to do too little.”
“COB” comes up with more goofball Why’s than a 5 year old. Another meaningless statement that is a complete invalidation of everyone like all his why’s. “The blind are leading the blind”. All you crap Class V staff are not trying enough.
With this in mind COB stated that what we really need is Orgs the size of Flag in every city where we now have an Org.
How has that worked out? There isn’t a SINGLE “Ideal Org” that has stably expanded in the last decade. Not ONE. There are a bunch in bigger buildings. They get pumped up with an influx of SO staff and people “borrowed” from other orgs. For a few months maybe their stats go up because of this. But ultimately they all slump back to pre-Ideal states of slumber. Anyone been into the Las Vegas “Ideal Org” recently? How about Sacramento? Malmo? Berlin? Rome? London? Dallas? OR ANY ONE OF THEM….
He stated that everyone knows that the right way to build something is a bit at a time, on a gradient, gradually, and that eventually in this fashion you would get a big Org. Right? Wrong! COB states that that is false data.
Well, I guess old COB might just have been wrong. No, that’s not possible…. We must have failed him somehow. We just haven’t executed his brilliant planning the right way. We must have unhandled evil purposes towards him. Yeah, that’s it.
Management has worked very hard to solve the factors that make it difficult to be on staff. A huge point by survey is that many Scientologists want to be on staff but because of economics cannot do it. The intention is to solve that problem and make it possible for Scientologists to be on staff and make a commensurate living to what they would make in the wog world. Therefore the financial system Orgs have been operating on has been reviewed and revised in order to allow much more staff pay to productive staff. I cannot get into specific details in this write up but I can tell you that the system is much more based on delivery. An auditor who makes 25 hrs a week in the chair could easily make $400 to $600 a week in this new system. However a key point to understand is that in order to allow the greatly increased staff pay it is imperative that the Org have minimal bills, specifically the Org cannot have large mortgage or rent payments. This would make it very difficult to implement the new finance system and have it achieve it’s intended effects. It therefore is counter to the purpose of creating an Ideal Org to have a situation in which the Org is bound to large rent or mortgage payments.
Perhaps the greatest lie of all. Miscavige went around promising how there would be good pay for all the staff and how He had solved it all. That by forcing orgs to buy stupidly posh, overly large buildings they would have enough money to be paid well. The pay in the MODEL Ideal Org (LA) is not even enough for staff members to bother picking up some weeks. Only if they manage to pull off some big booksales or a large IAS cycle do they get into double figures for their weekly pay. This was a total fraud. I wonder if Mark Arnold would be willing to show the world his pay vouchers for the last 10 years?
Yeah, right.
COB has given the OT Committees and Fields of Orgs the task of making these building cycles happen…
This was how He co-opted them. He literally made the field responsible for getting the money for a new building. That way if they complained about not having OT IX and X He could tell them “well, that cannot be released until all orgs are the size of Old St Hill. Before that can happen, all orgs have to be Ideal. You org (now its “all the orgs in your continent) is not Ideal so you had better get busy.
It was one of the slickest moves in the church’s history when He pulled that off.
Here is the full message from the ED Seattle Day.
Full Briefing On The Seattle Org Building Cycle
by Mark Arnold
I want to provide a thorough briefing on the Seattle Org building project and the reason for certain changes in how we are approaching this cycle. First of all, in the LRH Birthday event from March 2004, COB David Miscavige made a number of key points. If you have not seen this video presentation then arrange to see it at once. I do not believe it is possible to fully grasp what we are doing until you have seen it. I will summarize the key elements here.
But what is Division Six fully? If you understand that the Scientology Organizing board is set up on the concept of “Thetan—Mind—Body –Product” (Ref: HCOPL 4 Dec 1966 Expansion Theory of Policy in OEC Vol 0) then you can quickly grasp that Div 6s represent the “Product” part of this sequence with Divs One through Five being “Body”, Div 7 (Exec Div) being mind and The ED or CO being the “Thetan”. What, then, is the Product of Scientology? In the same policy referred to above Ron states “The ultimate product of Scientology is a universe that is decent and happy to live in, not degenerated and made miserable by suppressives as it has been.” Translate that to the planet we are on, Earth, and you can see our product would be a Clear Earth. That is the product we are going for here. There has been a lot of false data on this. Div 6s have been viewed only as the part of an Org that handles new people. Its functions have been more or less reduced down to getting a new person in somehow and getting that person regged and started on a service. This is what most Orgs and people have been trying to do with Div 6s and this is very far from the intended role of Div 6s. If the product of Scientology is a Clear Earth and we are in the Div 6 phase of our expansion and Div 6s are the “product” end of the Org Board then one can see clearly that Div 6s should embody the functions needed to Clear Earth. And if you go look at the Org Board you will see that is exactly what it does. In actual fact all Field activities, groups and even non-Scientology Government and social reform activities are on this Org Board. Compare that to what you see in most orgs. The Div 6 area is relatively small with most org space devoted to delivery. It is undermanned generally and does not embody the functions described above and what you see on the Org Board. In looking into this COB found the “Why” (See definition of “Why” in Admin Dictionary) for this situation which he stated as “They were trying to do too little.”
Lets look at this “Why” a little closer. It is exactly worded. If one is “Trying” to do something then that is what his effort is towards. If one is “trying to do too little” then he must not be envisioning what is really required to accomplish what he is supposed to be doing. Look again at what has been happening in Org Div 6s and you will see that the above “Why” explains it exactly. We haven’t envisioned what really must be happening to Clear Earth, which is what Div 6s are all about, and so we have been “trying to do too little.” Div 6 has three Divisions and they represent one third of the Org Board. Therefore they should be allocated one third of the Org Space. And they need it all to do the functions needed to bring about the product of “Clear Earth”. This has everything to do with why we must have a large building, in excess of 30,000 sq feet. A smaller building just won’t cut it.
With this in mind COB stated that what we really need is Orgs the size of Flag in every city where we now have an Org. That is if we really intend to Clear the planet. And these Orgs must be performing all the functions described above and that were performed by Saint Hill when Ron was there in the mid sixties and was running all Scientology Worldwide activities from there. From this you get that Seattle Org must be the Central Org for our zone, and our zone is a big one. It encompasses Alaska, Idaho, Montana and of course Washington. Our Org must embody all the functions needed to Clear our zone. And so we must have a big building to do it. And so we are getting one. At 5 stories and 34,000 sq feet, our building is big enough to do the job.
Now, how fast do we accomplish this. COB addressed this point as well. He stated that everyone knows that the right way to build something is a bit at a time, on a gradient, gradually, and that eventually in this fashion you would get a big Org. Right? Wrong! COB states that that is false data. The true data is in LRHED 339R-1 “The Make-Break Point Of An Org” in which LRH states “And there is another point—it is a different idea: The consideration that it takes a long time to build something is not true. That itself is an aberration, an effort to discourage destruction by pretending creation takes along time. It took only a few weeks to build the old Saint Hill org …..” So that is the truth of it. Building a big org is something that should not take a long time.
COB went on to give the analogy of doing an auditing session. An auditing session requires a room, an auditor, a desk, chairs, a meter, commands etc. They all must be present for a session to occur. A session cannot be done “on a gradient”. You either have a session or you do not. This principle applies to building an Ideal Org similarly. In a sense we have to put this civilization “in session” to clear it. This session requires all the elements of an Ideal Org for it to occur. This would include of course the full Div 6 Functions as mentioned above. All of the ABLE sector activities like Applied Scholastics, Narconon etc would have to be in and functioning. As many people in our society are on drugs or illiterate or both, the bridge is shut off to huge chunks of population without these activities. Without them the “session” on the civilization just will not occur to full EP. Therefore the only choice we have is a straight up and vertical approach to putting an Ideal Org here in Seattle. That is, an Org that performs all the functions necessary to the Clearing of our sector. Only in that way will the session be occurring on the civilization that will result in the clearing of our area. This needs to be done rapidly because time is short. In LRHED 339R “The Birthday Game” Ron addressed this point when he said “Speed of expansion is the problem of management. And it IS a problem. Let me give you some facts: this planet politically, is an anarchy of nations. These nations are armed with (of ALL things on a small planet) atomic weapons. This is catastrophe in the making in any whole track history book. To compound this economic and social problems exist far beyond the norm for such a civilization and these edge a political scene toward war………….And it isn’t just atomic war: these same social and economic factors, with their attendant rising stats of brutal crime and ideological pressure, could bring about police states – as they are doing – in which no application of workable tech would be permitted and this whole civilization (as it has done before) could sink into a new dark ages that would swamp any forward motion toward freedom. And there are other factors which make speed imperative. We do NOT have any infinity of time to do the job.”
So there you have it. Straight from LRH. That is why we need an Ideal Org now and must have the building to do it in. But there are some other points to understand to fully grasp this cycle.
All of the above factors must work together to bring about the Ideal Org we all seek. For these reasons Management has determined that Orgs must own their buildings outright and no loans be gotten in order to procure these buildings. Consequently we will not be getting a loan to purchase the Seattle Org building and of necessity are engaged in an all out fundraising effort to raise all the money needed to purchase this building. As this constitutes a change in strategy we had earlier promoted, I wanted to ensure that everyone fully understand the reasons why. I hope the above briefing accomplishes that as well as increases your understanding on why we are doing these Ideal Org cycles on a “straight up and vertical” gradient.
The last thing I want to say is this. As a staff member, now, for 31 years and Executive Director for the last 10 at Seattle Day Org I am wholeheartedly committed to this project. We must get this done now. We are, at long last, putting Scientology on a permanent footing in the Northwest and setting it up to achieve the ultimate product described above. Deep down we have all known that this must happen. If we want a future; if we want the Aims of Scientology accomplished; if we want to come back to a civilization worthy of our support; then this is something we must do. And if not now…..then when? COB has given the OT Committees and Fields of Orgs the task of making these building cycles happen, and many are responding as true OTs and doing just that. But the help of all of us is required. I have looked at this long and hard. I used to wonder at what point can one say “I have done my share. I have taken all the responsibility I can and can do no more.” I have concluded that there is no such point. Taking responsibility for the scene we are in is a continuous activity for which there is no upward limit. That is my reality. Keep in mind what Ron says in HCOPL “Keeping Scientology Working”; “We’re not playing some minor game in Scientology. It isn’t cute or something to do for lack of something better………The whole agonized future of this planet, every Man, Woman, and Child on it, and your own destiny for the next endless trillions of years depend on what you do here and now with and in Scientology………This is a deadly serious activity. And if we miss getting out of the trap now, we may never again have another chance.”
Help us make the most of this chance. I know you will.
Much Love,
Mark Arnold

Mike, I am ex-Finance Office for one of those orgs that have since “gone ideal”, and every time I see one of those monolithic Idle Org photos, all I can think is: How are they going to pay that electric bill?”
Considering that FBOs are forced to take a huge cut off the top that goes away from local spending, as well as all the nasty little bits that are cut out beyond that (death from a thousand tiny cuts) before the locals are able to spend. I remember the electricity being an issue in the old building, and having to physically stop a worker from shutting off lights by waving a check at him.
How are they managing to now do it for these multiple story buildings? Looks like the only thing that ended up going 5.4X is the bills.
jgg2012 says
Isn’t the tech supposed to make you communicate better? So why invest in empty buildings when you could have 1000s of online videos, tapes and interviews about how to communicate better. Someday the orgs will be viewed the way the Egyptian pyramids (lavish graves for dead dictators) are viewed today.

LRH was a very astute business man and if the COB creature followed Green on white there would be no problems.
But like most humanoids he simply cannot do it. Knows best (Out Grade IV like most cases)as usual
I have never undrstood why people cannot simply read a policy letter, duplicate it and follow it. I remember back on staff thinking how great this stuff is you don’t even have to think about it. Everythings already laid on and makes life easy.
Simplicity is the key, LRh has done all the work, Oh I fogot he wrote it down in simple to understand forms and this upset people as they never managed to do this or he nicked it from somewhere else.
So bloody what if it works use it and stop whinging like a an old tart.

in response to indie8million:
One thing that I’m keenly interested in is IF DM left in the supposed FIRST step of Super Power – the Justice Rundown. “Justice has been such a disturbance on the whole track, the first thing is to clear up all of the thetan’s injustices.” I remember reading something about this in a promo piece. […]
It was called the Ethics Repair List. I saw the original in 1978 at Flag and still have a copy 🙂
_________________________
Hey Ralph – Sure would like to see THAT repair list. Can you link us to a copy anywhere?
I would be so amazed if DM left it in as-is.
What was LRH’s stated EP for that, Ralph? If He leaves it in, I’m sure he’ll use it for endless sec checking so that the people are spending their first 100 hours of Super Power in confessionals instead of repairing injustices they have experienced.
Ha ha. If it does address past injustices, well, the PC can say “the org treated me badly,” the MAA takes it up with him/her, they are sentenced to another 100 hours of confessionals and THEN declared.
DM’s super power.

I have something to say about this briefing from Miscavige via this Seattle ED that is a bit different than the general flavor of a lot of the comments here.
This pitch that Miscavige is giving for his “Ideal Org Program” is ingeniously written. It looks very authentic and plausible to even the smartest of dedicated church members.
It has gotten enough support from bright, able Sea Org members, org EDs and OT Committee members to actually have accomplished the opening of a lot of new buildings worth a lot of money without top management having to pay for practically any of it. It has taken a lot of push from these able people to cut through the counter-intention of those who could not otherwise confront the actions of raising that much money.
Yes, it is a stupid program doomed to failure but he has made it look to dedicated followers like an ingenious plan.
It has the appearance of a real why having been found. It is easy for all of us to criticize the why of “they were trying to do too little”, but that’s because we are looking at all the relevant information. Miscavige knows that church members aren’t looking at all the relevant information and is an expert on how to manipulate this lack of insight. It’s what he is best at.
When you look at the above Miscavige explanation of the “why found” of “they were trying to do too little”, it’s more than just an accusation that his staff are a bunch of lazy-ass incompetents. It’s got the appearance (to those who have accepted him as the “on-source” authority who knows better than anyone else alive, of a fully investigated) analytically thought-out why.
His explanation that Div 6 is supposed to do more than just get in new people, sign them up for a service and make Scientologists out of them, is actually correct, per the org board. There are all kinds of field activities that are supposed to be being done, which if done correctly and competently on a correct order of magnitude, would theoretically speed up the planet-clearing process – that is if you don’t consider all the other flaws that exist in the overall Scientology picture.
He’s saying that nobody in orgs were even trying to do those things, and for the most part, he was right.
Combine that with the everlasting hope amongst SO members, staff and public that someone, namely COB, was going to come along and figure out the solutions to all of their problems, and this explanation he gives behind the “why” obtains A LOT of agreement.
It may not be the right why but it sure sounds good to those desperate for a solution.
Now he takes that agreement, already established, and makes a HUGE leap in logic, and states that the ONLY way that this “why” can be implemented is by getting DONATIONS FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to buy HUGE, EXTRAVAGANT BUILDINGS, and none of them can see the illogic in it because they are now hanging on to his every word.
The part about needing the building to solve this problem is not the ingenious part, but once he had already ingeniously gotten us all to agree with the theory behind his “why”, he didn’t need an ingenious solution, he just needed everyone to “realize” once again how smart and worthy of compliance he “is”.
And lo and behold you have thousands of people going completely off hat to raise wasted money on useless buildings that don’t do anybody any good at all.
There’s more to this whole scene than just “COB is an SP and his followers are all a bunch of idiots”.

Interesting comments Dave. My take on it, is that it’s all propaganda, as defined as follows:
“…information, esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.”
All propaganda needs is a little truth, a reasonable premise and repetition to succeed. We all know that Div 6 reaches out into the public. That if Div 6 was functioning at a higher level (from whatever it was doing at the time the article was written) everything would be better, improved. These are acceptable truths. Now we support these minor statements with a solution — Ideal Orgs — and we have a plan. Ideal Orgs, operating from the same mindset as Nazi Germany’s Joseph Goebbels (Minister of Propaganda) is all rather brilliant. It takes people’s attention off past failures and onto current solutions. That these too will become failures as well, is irrelevant to those desperate for solutions — for understanding.
I think most of us remember very clearly why we got into SCN, what made us believe in its potential. And I think most of us also wonder – what the fuck happened — along the way?Why didn’t that potential get realized?
It’s like the greatest New York Yankees players ever, all come together as a team and play the 1961 New York Mets and lose 10-0. How did it happen? How did it not work out like we all thought it would?
Another datum comes to mind, this one from LRH and I’m paraphrasing it, ” Complexity is directly proportional to the degree of non-confront.”
David The Miscavige can’t confront truth or anything that resembles it. So his solutions keep getting more and more complex and less and less effective. Inside his own little bubble, his Whys are really nothing more than a reflection of his own outpoints.
As an evaluator I have sort out Whys for my own understanding and as-is-ness and I’ve come to the realization that there are actually hundreds of them. This subject is too complex for a single Why, as much as that would be clean and efficient to disseminate.
DM has his own Why for what he does and I’m sure power, evil, stupidity and greed are somewhere within it. Well.. and size.
Odd
Jane Doe says
“Inside his own little bubble, his Whys are really nothing more than a reflection of his own outpoints.” Thank you for that great insight, Odd Thomas. DM is running his case and his outpoints on everyone else. He dramatizes his case and outpoints and deep down knows that it is something that needs to be handled, so he then tries to “find” tech to handle these aberrations, and then he generalizes it saying that “everyone” needs to handle “this thing.” Very sad really. If he had ever allowed an auditor to get near him, he could have truly done the processes that would have given him case gain. But that never happened as he refuses auditing. LRH said in the PTS/SP Course that the Suppressive never shows up for auditing and if he does, he never gets case gain.

The words of the Seattle Org ED Mark Arnold and the words of cob are ALL the reason we need to stay away from the current church. Their convoluted statements are a total study of insanity and a very poor and utterly pathetic misunderstanding of their own policy and technology.
When I first heard cob give this talk, it was the last time I believed a word he said.
Cob displays SUCH a poor understanding that my only conclusion was the he is clueless.
COB makes the point that we are currently in the Div 6 phase of Scientology expansion, having moved through the other phases of the Org Board earlier in our history. Organizations go through phases of expansion that parallel the Org Board.
Many of us are trained in this subject and this is well understood, but maybe there are those who do not know the theory behind this.
In simple terms, the sequence is: You have an idea, you start a business, set up an organization however small to start, you get it a little established, find a client and interest them in buying, make sure they can pay, deliver what you sell, make sure it is done correctly, the happy clients leave and tell their friends who come in and start the cycle over again.
The sequence has a logic to it and is part of the same class of data. It follows a sequence of similar actions.
The Scientology example, on a global and very long-term scale would be:
Set up, open and manage orgs
Get staff
Sell tons of stuff
Collect the income and deliver the goods and services. Correct screw-ups and ensure quality, send out your happy people who bring in many more.
This is done over and over, through the cycle.
If it is a hamburger sequence, then it follows the hamburger line of actions.
For Scn over many, many decades, it would make Clears each time through the sequence.
You would establish Scn
You would sell its services
You would ensure finances are collected and spent wisely
You would deliver and deliver and deliver for decades.
If you did this so that many millions and millions of people became clear, then eventually you would start correcting society and making everything much saner. All the time you would be cycling through this sequence bigger and bigger until one day, you would have many more clears than not.
The final GOAL is a clear planet, not the product of Scn, Mark Arnold.
Cob throws in a non-sequitur IRS win as part of the sequence. How the hell this leap of logic enters the picture is only born out of crashing misunderstandings about what Hubbard wrote about this subject.
Cob obviously relies on people not to know, to not be trained properly and he can therefore sell this total crap to his flock.
He says we need demand (Div 6) to clear the planet, so, instead of creating demand, he concludes, build buildings!!! OMG!
Cob is not trained and this is dangerous indeed. The product of his idiocy and pretended knowledge is an almighty mess of false directions, BS GAGs, and everything else we see every week.
What a total imbecile.

Lot of A=A=A going on. When, in the same message you put stuff like ” our whole eternity is at stake. A world without insanity and criminals, free beings, a decent, happy universe to live in etc.”
And then you equate it to what DM is doing. If you then stop thinking, don’t do your homework, and just blindly believe; you fall into that ever present trap, A=A=A. Most of us want all that stuff.
A better world, no insanity, etc etc. But you have to be able to differentiate between what’s being said, and what’s actually happening. And you also have to realize that there is a fine line between postulates and not isness. “Well I got this postulate for ideal orgs and I’m not going to let anyone ruin it with c.i.) Sometimes you have to realize the isness (ci) of the situation, is not a counter postulate. It’s just the way it is. And if the isness is leading nowhere, time is as-is it.

Ah yes, the Seattle org. Such fond memories. I was regged to death there. I lived 45 minutes away from the org and frequently found Mark on my doorstep or some other org person. Always assuring me that the outflow would equal inflow. What BS.Or what life tme are we talking about here? They could never provide the services they promised me and my husband. I still have money on account there and it has been 20 years. The only good memory is when Tony De Phillips put in my objectives.

Mike, I have a question and I’ve thought about this for a long time now.
Do you know if the Buffalo Ideal Org (the first one), was put into place because of, or relating to, the Jeremy Perkins murder of his mother Ellie Perkins in 2003?
This was a big story in Buffalo, which is a faily small city today. Not what is once was early-mid 1900’s.
If anyone else who was working in the SO at the time has any info, I would appreciate it.
Thank you.

No, it was because of the eminent domain action by the city on the old org building. I have written about this a few times.

Mike, I originally posted this briefing from Seattle ED Mark Arnold on OCMB on June 1, 2006. I found it while searching “Ideal Org program” on Google.
I had already written in 2006 that the Ideal Org program was a failure and would continue to be a failure. I wrote this because I understood that the basic business principle that in any operation — religious or secular — one has to make more money than they spend in order to stay in business.
This fact seems to escape David Miscavige.
In context of 2005-2006, the scene was as follows: The Church of Scientology was in an uncontrollable PR free fall heading towards the ground. The situation was akin to someone who had been shoved out of an airplane without a parachute and was moving at terminal velocity towards an unfavorable ending.
Rather than handling the enormous and real problems arising from the Church’s incredibly bad PR due to forced abortions, Disconnection, Fair Game, human rights abuse, chronic lying, and incredible greed, Miscavige saw the answer as purchasing dozens of buildings.
This was truly Nero fiddling while Rome burned.
Fast forward to 2010 in Seattle and look at the bitter fruit: The Org put up a hate website and hate pages on the people who were once its proudest and most capable members: Tony and Marie-Joe Philips, Bert and Lynn Schippers, Brad and Natalie, Hagemo and others. The Goldenrod on these people was also posted.
This is the live Church link to the Seattle Org hate website: http://www.ethicsorders.org/ THIS IS NOT A CHURCH WEBSITE, SEE CLARIFYING COMMENT FROM J SWIFT BELOW
The entire 2006 Mark Arnold briefing was a lie. Not only was staff not paid more, but the Seattle Org itself was dismantled and torn apart in Emperor Miscavige’s mad zeal to purchase buildings as his answer to Planetary Clearing.
The only thing Miscavige has ever truly “cleared” is the Church of its members.
Countless Scientologists have cleared out of the Church like people running at breakneck speed out of a burning building.

Edit: The link above IS NOT to a Church hate website. It was the clever site the Indies in Seattle put up so that still-ins would read. The church hate pages are elsewhere.

A serious discussion of DM’s “Ideal Org” program is like trying to tell Hitler that it’s not OK to kill Jews, homosexuals and gypsies. Or convincing Stalin that some Capitalists are nice. DM’s actions are those of a lunatic. He is only trying to figure out ways, in his sick mind, to hold on to power. To live eternally as COB. He does plastic surgery and dyes his hair to stay young forever and remain COB for eternity.
The more he is desperate to hold on to power the weirder the solutions. And his underlings stay there since most people are gullible and want to be lied to because the new lie explains away their past stupidity. Better to believe the next invention that will lead us to Heaven (“A Cleared Planet”) than admit to being wrong in the past. Good old “Continuing Overt Act” mechanism at work.
When did Hitler admit to being wrong? When he shot himself (or was it poison?) alone in the bunker. That is DM’s inevitable fate.
Mike Rinder says
Dani — this is an interesting comment. I am reading John Sweeney’s new book about North Korea. Fascinating. The original Great Leader and his son Dear Leader are considered to still be overseeing the wellbeing of the citizens of North Korea. They are both preserved and lie in glass boxes in a mausoleum for people to come by to pay their respects to them. Great Leader had a grapefruit sized goitre on his neck, so nobody was allowed to photograph his right side. His image is everywhere still, so too his sons’. Lenin, Mao and Ho Chi Minh are preserved like this too.

Happiness Rundown

GAT II
I think if you look at these based on long term value vs the hype surrounding the initial stage you have to call them all failure to deliver on the hype (ok GAT II just got released but looks to be quickest complete failure of all time.)
Mark is the perfect Scientlologist for Miscavige. Dedicated and willing to believe what he’s told with very little critical thinking. He is unwilling or unable to view new hyped up bullshit in the context of old hyped up bullshit that is now not being promoted anymore.

Hey TP,
I agree with you mostly except for the HRD,FPRD, KTL/LOC all damn good actions designed by the Ol’man to handle certain case conditions.
Working on tech lines at the time I don’t remember any of the other auditors or C/Ses I worked with being under the delusion that any of the above RDs would save the world or even Scientology.
Except Mayo in the case of the HRD and some of the auditors and C/Ses who fell under his spell. Like the one who kept disapproving my C/Ses to put this one PC I was auditing on a DRD because he couldn’t make it through Precept 2.
(I mean it took me almost an intensive to make it through Precept 3 but I made it eventually 😉
Good thing I was on a coaudit.
But anyhoo….enuff about me.)
As far as the other BS like the “Basics” which is a basic engram, GAT and its sequel which should have been exported in a Jif Peanut Butter Jar were all promised to “speed up training” and “create an army of auditors’.
Sure, sure I can see how adding a course requirement which rivals the SHSBC in size and scope would speed up training if I was say stoned on acid.
And I doubt if this “Army of auditors” will materialize anytime soon unless Davy is really Sgt. Fury or more accurately Sgt. Furry.
Never mind this whole “Ideal Orgs” thing which is based on the idiotic assumption a must or an enforced have before one can even do.
Only a moron would believe that shit and only a suppressive would promote it.
ThetaPotata says
It’s interesting to get your viewpoint from inside tech delivery. I was public, so I think I absorbed the hype a little easier or more. My twin on the Pro TR’s was totally convinced that the HRD wa going handle everything that was wrong with his case, which of course it didn’t. I did the HRD/KTL/LOC/FPRD and agree they were very good actions as well with great wins.
I just remember getting the feeling from the events and the reges that each one was going to turn you into a superman of sorts.
I did forget the basics on my list (dang…) and I could probably ad the Clay table Pro-TRs to the list although I don’t recall having the pie in the sky expectations that I had for other actions, so maybe they didn’t hype that as much. I do remember this illegal PC that was allowed to do the Pro TR’s Clay Table Processing and it was his big chance to get auditing so he milked it for everything he could get out of it. So for him he was looking for something that would never manifest.
I think the point is that in a certain frame of mind people are susceptible to hype and want to believe it so badly that they can’t see the holes or the outpoints. I’ve done it and certainly Mark Arnold is a good example of what drinking the Miscavige Kool-aid is all about. Staff pay raises that never came into existence and a utopian dream of Scientolgy finally getting itself right with the world and experiencing huge expansion.
remoteviewed says
I totally understand Theta.
No matter how many times Ron tells regs that they are supposed to sell auditing not results. They seem to get some idea in the head to give PCs wild expectations AKA Hidden Standards on what certain are supposed to do.
I remember doing a D of P on a guy who actually believed that levitation was the EP of a certain RD he was on.
I mean …..
Sheeesh!
One of the few times in my life that I was left totally speechless 😉
The HRD is a perfect example of RD or action becoming a fad( and I’ve seen quite a few of them come and go except the current fad which seems to go on forever and that is the PC has withholds or evil purposes toward COB or whatever anyhoo..) that would handle everything that was wrong with a case.
Mayo and his inner circle was a big promoter of this idea. I mean there was some crazy shit like they’d continue to do the RD over out int, lists, ruds, engrams, PTS, ethics whatever because the RD would eventually sort all this out.
You know as if the guy was in the Non Interference zone after starting the Rundown!
FPRD same thing even with Mayo gone.
Why?
Because there are a lot of auditors and C/Ses who have what the Ol’man calls a “magical complex” in C/S Series 2.
New RD gets issued and immediately some idiots think its the solution to everything.
You see the same thing on the administrative level with “Ideal Orgs”.
I mean if there is a conspiracy beyond the one many of us theorize about. It is a conspiracy of stupidity and lunacy which is evident in all those emails that Mike was posting on his blog and this one.
Sheeesh.

The time I realized it as staff member I started moonlighting. If Ideal Orgs are failing this is not by making mistakes from top management. This in intentionally so. If no new Scientologists are made then this is the intention of top management. There is no real secret why Scientology is going down and eventually off planet Earth. This is the end product of David Miscavige. He is not crazy or stupid or whatever. He has this intention and it is his job and duty.

Love the fact that you said “maybe” and “not in full”.
Everything man-made, perhaps, but with all those pesky unintended consequences.
Other than that, stuff happens, chaotically, with a will all it’s own, unknowable, but we humans, because of a brain thingy, ascribe sense to it.
That rationale is self-serving, and needs to be tested scientifically, or we live in a world of self-fulfilling hypotheses.

I can see in your smile the same, but with a subtext (very common with males, but I’m projecting here) of “I’m the luckiest guy in the world/how the hell did I ever get her to love me?”
I am a long time critic-activist, and, as I have said to you privately, I have been highly critical of both you and Marty in the past.
It fills me with joy to see you and Marty (congratulations!) happy, undoubtedly happier than you have been for a long time.
That happiness is a reflection of the justness of this struggle, and a good indicator of the progress of it, which, selfishly, adds to my joy.
That may be a bit maudlin, but then, ’tis the season.
I’ll add one tiny, largely unheard, but pertinent story:
Kurt Vonnegut and Joseph Heller were at a party hosted by one of the world’s richest people.
One said to the other (I don’t remember which was which, and it matters not),
“Our host will make more in 15 minutes than you or I will make in a lifetime.”
The response,
“But we have something he will never have: the knowledge that we have enough.”

Mike,
First, thanks for all that you do.
Now, regarding Mark Arnold……I’ve been around him since 1990. He is usually close to anger if you: A) Don’t join staff B) Don’t hand over your credit cards. He has chronic back pain and limps everywhere he goes, groaning and grimacing whenever he stands up or sits down. He rules through force and a whole lot of volume!!!
I wrote a K/R on him around 2006 based upon a debate we had about the out-tech, off-policy Ideal Org program which, he boasted, he had written the fund-raising hat for. I K/R’d him for statements he made during that debate, wherein he literally admitted that he was “just following orders”, complete with a slump and a sigh, as he knew I had out-debated him with logic and LRH policy on NOT FUNDRAISING with bbq’s to boom orgs but rather to USE SCIENTOLOGY to boom orgs, etc, etc.
During my Comm Ev circus show, that very K/R I’d written for Mark’s off-policy activities was thrown in my face as an example of how “not on board” I was being. I was punished with 200 hours of MEST work and like a moron, I went ahead and completed most of it because at the time, I still thought my eternity was in their hands.
Mark is a Nazi, blindly working for Hitler. He is abrasive. He is arrogant. He’s in constant pain and he’s flat broke. I saw his dwelling one time and was taken back. It was the polar opposite of upstat.

Total Population of Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Washington: 10,229,481
Total square footage of Seattle Org: 34,000
Number of potential auditing rooms: 340 (converting all space to 10×10 rooms – I’m being very generous)
Maximum number of auditing hours per day: 8,160 (auditing around the clock)
Maximum number of auditing hours per year: 2,978,400
Number of Clears produced per year: 14,892 (based on 200 hours per PC)
Number of years to “clear” Alaska, Idaho, Montana and of course Washington: 687

Hidden from the public in 2004 was DM’s concern over his BFF Tom Cruise. What he said (in anger) to an exec standing next to me was that TC was working harder than anyone in the SO to drive people into the orgs, yet the orgs were “shit holes” (his words, not mine). The poor state of the orgs then reflected on TC, so we had to do our part and get the org up to his standards. I feel that at the time the hidden bottom line to DM’s Ideal Org brainchild was to impress his rich and famous buddy TC. To do that, and to run around confidently in TC’s world of parties and race car events, he had to quickly deal with the shit holes and become the COB over a bunch of grand Albert-Speer-like buildings filled with people dressed like airline hosts and hostesses. It’s like Keeping Up With the Jones’s but on a bigger scale.

I mean he was such an “upstat” guy playing Mimi while he was boning Nicole over at the Int Base while Miscavige watched on like one of those made for TV movie Pimps.
Ya know so frickin’ upstat.

You know shades of the cancel moose that turned a small section of usenet that no one ever heard of into a cause celebre of Wired and the EFF.
Tom like Miscavige the Moron In Charge of Mission All Clear or MICMAC which was really MAFU deserve each other since they are both such high profile failures.
Anyhoo…
Some of us figured this Golden Age of Tech was Tom’s idea because he was too stupid to learn straight Scientology being dyslexic and all that. I mean aside from being a total moron who like his BFF can’t say anything that is comprehensible unless someone writes them a script.
Any skinny on that?
SadStateofAffairs says
I well remember this particular briefing. But the lies and delusions got even worse a few years later. Circa 2006 or 2007, there was another briefing where Miscavige stated definitively that all current orgs would be Ideal by 2010, and not only that, that their Div 6 activities would be generating a new org every week, then it would escalate to generating a new org every day. Well now it is 2013. Only about 1/4 of the then-extant orgs are now “ideal”, the “Ideal Orgs” are in reality diametrically opposite to Miscavige’s claims of what they would be, and so far there are no actual new orgs generated (only one is on the drawing boards – Kaohsiung – but that was not generated by some other Ideal org, it has been on the drawing boards since early on and the building was purchased by the IAS, not an outgrowth of Ideal org activity). Anyone that has worked with David Miscavige knows well what would have happened to them if they gave grossly false assurances such as Miscavige gives continously about the ideal Orgs. Given the magnitude of the Miscavige false assurances, anyone else giving anything comparable would have long ago been RPFed, put in the Hole, and or declared. Miscavige is the biggest hypocrite imaginable, along with being the biggest liar.

LDW says
Your analysis of the overall scene is spot on, Mike.
“The ultimate product of Scientology is a universe that is decent and happy to live in, not degenerated and made miserable by suppressives as it has been.”
Each and every scientologist within miscavige’s grip is basically suppressed. Suppressed by wrong whys, wrong targets, faulty analysis, out-tech, unreal orders, constant eval and inval, denial of the rights of individual self-determinism and common decency. Suppressed also by their own and their leaders delusional self-aggrandizement which is spotted and rejected by most decent people. The average “org” is not a decent and happy place to live in, so what are they exporting?
Ron also talks about pilot projects, off the regular lines, with its own finance and proven results before injecting it into the line up. Buffalo is a failure, Joburg is a failure, LA org is a failure, Seattle is a failure…yet they just keep up with the same convoluted, destructive programs based on the same wrong why. Gat I was a failure written and orchestrated by a failed tech terminal (and sociopath) so lets let the same creep lead us into salvation with GAT II?
“Our Org must embody all the functions needed to Clear our zone. And so we must have a big building to do it. And so we are getting one. At 5 stories and 34,000 sq feet, our building is big enough to do the job.”
Well, the big building didn’t do shit. It never will. Buildings don’t do anything except keep the rain and wind out.
The tech of auditing and the training of auditors is about people. Caring for them, helping them with their lives, not forcing them to live yours. Auditing is for the PC, not the organization. You Program, C/S and audit the PC in front of you, not some stereotypical model like a stepford wife. Even if he weren’t a sociiopath, miscavige couldn’t do the job because he is the quintessential GLIB student. He doesen’t have the foggiest clue how to help someone achieve spiritual freedom. And in my opinion, he is postulating the exact opposite.
Here’s the truth. How much do you have to have before you can do a good job of auditing someone up the grades or through Dianetics to clear? PRACTICALLY NOTHING.
An old mark V or VI, the process commands, a decent grasp of the comm cycle, a C/S who has a pretty good idea of how it’s done, a true desire to help a person overcome his case and a willingness to grant beingness and keep your auditor’s code in.
Anything added to that should be evaluated against the basic stable datum of, “does it help the auditor do a better job of helping the PC.”

Les,
You don’t even need a meter or an auditing room to audit.
All you need is an auditor and a PC.
I’ve gotten very good results auditing in a coffee shop, on a park bench or giving somebody an assist on the street.
What you’re discussing here is “formal auditing” not auditing in general.
Sometimes you don’t even need an auditor, Self Analysis, Handbook for PreClears, Six Steps to Better Beingness, etc, etc.
Auditing is not a have before you can do proposition. Remember on the old HSDC where Ron is saying it is possible to do a full Health Form without a meter.
He even discuses handling ARCXs, running PTPs and pulling withholds and overts without one too.
Ron even had students who were getting too meter dependent audit without one for a while on the SHSBC.
I’m sure if the FDA went psycho one day and collected all the meters in these United States and burned them like they did with Reich’s Orgone Boxes we could still get by.
All a meter does is verify that the process is completed, verifying the results in general and that you are handling things in the correct sequence of charge.
In fact there was a time in the mid to late ’50’s that meters developed by Volney were getting so unwieldy and complicated sorta like the Mk Ultra that they stopped using meters all together until my ol’ buddy Don and few guys built the Washington “Blue Meter”.
Anyhoo…
In my opinion application of Scientology would be slowed but not stopped by the lack of a meter.
As an aside. Funny how the Golden Age of Tech “drills” make auditors so meter dependent by negating what the PC says in favor of the meter. In other words the drills “train” the auditor to invalidate the PC using the meter. Ron calls it “Meter Invalidation” and you find PC’s “audited” this way if they haven’t wrapped the leads around the auditor’s neck and beating him or her senseless with the meter cans will try to find “answer” to keep the “auditor” happy instead of run their case.
Me I’d ask for an ARCX, PTP or even a MWH and the PC would say no and I’d immediately check False. Still did after their attempt to “reeducate” me.
Moving on I couldn’t help but notice the following:
“He stated that everyone knows that the right way to build something is a bit at a time, on a gradient, gradually, and that eventually in this fashion you would get a big Org. Right? Wrong! COB states that that is false data.”
Yeah everyone including Ron!
Which sorta proves that a lot of Scientology is based on common sense. That is till Slappy and his gang or whoever is pumping this mental midget’s teeny tiny mind with “ideas” took over.
Then this thing about each division of the Org Board going through “phases” which is basically an alteration of what the Ol’man says in the Org Board and Livingness.
From what I remember is that he only discusses two phases Technical and Organizational.
Again common sense which is something lacking in the current Government Approved Organization. You develop something like say Scientology for example or even Nuclear Physics and you have to take all these notes, lectures, etc and ….wait for it…. organize them.
Not only that but you have to compile them in such a way as to disseminate them to the general public in the case of Scientology at one time that is until Botwo the Squirrel entered the picture or in the case of Nuclear Physics to a specific public who is cleared for such information.
The former is the job that RTC was supposed to insure was being done but like MAC it is and was a dismal failure.
HCO the division who was originally assigned with the job I guess was too involved with the morality play they call “ethics” to bother “bringing order” and CST who was the entity assigned to do this is probably waiting for Ron’s saucer to arrive out in Trementina which I think is just a wee bit too close to Roswell to be bothered with such terrestrial concerns.
So never mind.
But anyhoo….
Then the low IQ “genius” that is the oxymoron on two feet conveys the idea that the tech division is part of the “body” of the organization yet anyone who has access which seems to be “Eyes Only” “Top Secret Securely Compartmented Information” these days says that the Tech Division is prediction, activity and ….wait for it folks …product.
Again you look at Div 6 and you find that there is a reason it is called the Distribution Division aside from the fact that non of its awareness characteristics say anything about “product” which is obviously missed by this yokel giving this “briefing” which the ignorance that is needed to give strength to this mindless dick tator who would have been laughed out the room by anyone who had done a real Staff Status II.
To sum up this rather long comment.
It seems the general operating rule of those who have hijacked the organization is the Mushroom Principle which is to keep the Staff and Public in the dark and feed ’em bullshit. Something that pretty much describes this so called “briefing”.
‘Nuff said.
Now I hope all of you and yours had a Happy Thanksgiving.

How dumb are these people? Auditing and courses are fucking expensive. WHERE IS THE MONEY?????
The best way I’ve found to get a glimmer of cognitive dissonance in the hypnotized stare of a still-in is NOT talking about torture, imprisonment, kidnapping, or forced abortions. Sadly, those things don’t register much, and I have no idea why. Instead, talk about the money – pay-offs of SO workers to keep their mouth’s shut, DM’s private nest-egg (estimated at $70 million), the money wasted on court cases (being sued for destroying businesses with their ridiculous shunning orders). Tell that to someone who paid a freeloader debt or anyone feeling the financial duress membership requires.

Can someone please explain this to me?

I haven’t seen that many dead eyes outside of an episode of Walking Dead.

Try actors

There was not one but two people of color in that video, which I’m fairly certain is a false representation right there.
Cat Daddy says
There is the redheas actress in it, and a few more actors.

The typical condescending dumb-downing that COSers have been accustomed to for the last 15 years, manipulated by dramatic actors to buy real estate for the church.

Oh, Lord. It’s Denise Duff (the 2nd face in the vid, and recurring throughout getting progressively more crazed). One person I do not miss.

OK, so an empty building is what Scientology is all about?

Feeling less and less pity for people following this asshat.

Very excellent report Mike.
No doubt Harvard Business College will giving a course in Scientology 101
sooner more than later.
Hopefully not to off topic but ,true story.
An African country was so badly mismanaged the entire Nation ran out of toilet paper.
Inflation had skyrocketed to unthinkable levels that Toilet paper had become more valuable than the National currency.
This scenario seems to be happening with Scientology.
jgg2012 says
Toilet paper never punched anyone.

All the fancy buildings in the world will not make up for the abysmal reputation Scientology has developed over the last 10 years. I have a very good “friend” that is on course one day a week at Seattle Org. Several months ago, before I was labeled an anti-social OT8, he indicated the org was quite empty. He had recently moved to Seattle and was on course primarily to make people happy. As a field auditor, I’m sure he is going to love re-doing Student Hat, objectives ,purification RD, the levels, new meter, trs, metering course, etc.
Just ran across my twin yesterday from the GAT I courses. He couldn’t ignore me fast enough. Good luck with the Div6 phase, in a world where news travels at the speed of light.
Search google news and show me one article that is favorable about Scientology that is not a press release.

This forced non-communication is so sad. It shows how much brainwashed these people are. I have witnessed the same several times now. Will these people ever leave voluntarily?
I guess they have defended the cult too much, therefore trespassing the point of no return and closing the doors to the family/outer world.
How does someone feel about changing the sides. I mean the exact feeling when you look into the eyes of someone you were ruining. The more you were fighting for the cult the harder it becomes to tell that you were wrong.
I am facing exactly that problem with my ex-wife. Even if she would see clearly now, even then she would not be able to turn against the cult. She would more or less hang herself … in her opinion. So there are some people, who will stay until the very last minute. They have to, they have no choice.
Also Hitler was fighting until the very last moment. Do you think he could have simply said “sorry” and changed the sides? Maybe on the first day, but not on the last day. Therefore he had to continue, no matter what he saw coming.
Mike, do you think your ex-wife would be able to turn around and say sorry?
I guess – if there is a chance – it would rather sound like this: “Oh, I was lied at. I trusted this man. We had to survive! There was no need to inform myself honestly. It was not my fault.”
Or: “I am still right, we just lost against SPs”.
Nevertheless, I think victimising yourself is an acceptable gradient for taking responsibility. Being the so called “victim” is better than hanging yourself for being the culprit.

In ten year’s time, what will we be saying about the Super Power Program? Another massive failure, that’s for certain. That will be added to the Library Project, the Basics, the new Gradation Chart, etc, etc. There will be tears at bedtime for the flock.

Easily some of the most convoluted writing and thinking I believe I’ve ever seen. And that is saying a lot! And yes, Misconceived is being positioned to be the new “Source of Everything”, as in “COB states…” as if a magic wand has been waved and now we have THE TRUTH and no longer need think about it. Very sad state of affairs. One hopes that at least “some” of the sheep will become a bit more wolfish.
statpush says
I agree Peter, but this is the inevitable result when the individual no longer cares or wishes to observe, compute and think for themselves. Probably the individual personal Why for Scientology’s failure. The group does not encourage such, and in fact penalizes it. The result is a group of followers, not thinkers or leaders. I no longer think this was accidental or the result of “poor management”, I believe it was by design.
Church members are kept on a pretty short leash nowadays. Very little carrot, lots of stick. Authority and status are what is really important. And if you can’t assume authority, well you’ll just have to buy your status. Buying your status, preferably lots of it, makes you an ally with the authority.
Truth? That died a long time ago.
Gus Cox says
“COB states…” reminds me very much of, “As the Honorable Elijah Muhammad tells us…”
Maybe the real Why is: COB has become Prophet.
