Scientology always wants to have its cake and eat it too. And they want you to buy the cake. And they want you to give them money so they can buy a cake.
The never ending demand for money is one defining feature of scientology (along with lies, serial abuses and familial destruction).
It’s the same story with ideal orgs – give us your money to buy and renovate buildings that we will own, then give the IAS money so they can buy and renovate the same buildings because this is what they do with your money.
”But I already gave to CCHR/ideal orgs/WTH campaign/planetary dissemination etc etc – why should I give to the IAS for the same thing?”
”Because we say so. And you are being sent to ethics for being CI to command intention. You can buy your way out by paying fo4 your next status.”
Yet, here is what the IAS promotes:
Roger Larsson says
Love produce energy and so do hate. To attack critics, psychs and communists consume more energy than it produces. The math tell that the energy of love is greater than the energy of hate.
If scientology had been real lovers connections could have existed.

The truth. The IAS does not fund the CCHR organization. They have to get their own funding. The IAS occasionally funds money to purchase DVDs made by the Cherch.
It’s a huge scam. I got that information straight from the president of CCHR. Of course she did not see it that way.
Big Bean says
Was that from electric shock illegal pc “psych case” Jan Eastgate?
How these people justify this is only known by Xenu.
How do they do it? Anyone know?
BKmole says
Yes, Jan Eastgate. The IAS grants only covered some of their special marketing tools like pamphlets, video productions, video trailers etc. They did not cover travel, food and lodging, salaries, power and water, gas, building repairs, antyhing having to do with running the organization or satellite organizations.
When I heard they had to do their own fund raising it further reinforced the fact that the IAS is a scam using the front groups to falsely get members to donate.
Big Bean says
Jan Eastgate gets paid. I saw the tax returns on line.
I think it was around $50k
I wonder if Sea Orger Slaves know that
I found it on the internet lurking at a coffee shop on my way day off each month
That pissed me off and I routed out.
Aquamarine says
VERY well done, Big Bean!
Seriously, I’m not spouting false flattery.
You were in the SEA ORG.
You were curious.
You had the brains and the confront to LOOK.
Once you saw the truth you had the courage and confront to LEAVE.
This is/was a VERY big deal!
PeaceMaker says
The IAS crows about “grants” that seem to be just be for something minimal like the rental of a truck for an event, when we’ve parsed their weasel-words. Members are presumably then hit up for all the remaining major costs, including promotional materials – which if sold to them at typical high Scientology markups, would probably provide international management with more profit than the the amount of the “grant.”
Kat LaRue says
It’s always been about the money. It was never ever about helping people or helping mankind. That was the lure. Hubbard’s insanity in later years let him actually believe, but the whole thing has always been about the money.
Reade Adams says
Psychiatry is obviously not an exact science, and psychiatrists and therapists do make mistakes. Some practitioners are better at their jobs than others, but are all psychiatrists evil? Not hardly. In fact, my psychiatrist saved me from dying by my own hand at least twice, and the proper meds have given me a new lease on life.
Earlier, at the same time that I was experiencing deep depression, my $cientology brother told me he was required to disconnect from me because I see a psychiatrist and take psychotropic meds. And he did.
I was devastated, but it did no good to point out the facts. My brother’s ears were blocked through brainwashing. He’s still in and may be until he dies or Scientology crashes and burns.
Komodo Dragon says
I am glad you sought and received quality psychiatric care, and your life was saved by those actions.
I noticed a very disturbing quote on the “testimonial” section of the CCHR letter Mike highlighted. The third Milano comment, the writer states “…I came home and threw away all my psychotropic drugs and told my doctor I did not want to take anything any more.” That statement should never have been printed! Going off any medication without medical supervision can have devastating effects to the individual, including death.
Dave F. says
Hi, Mike !
I haven’t posted in quite a while . . .
I have a question about the “finances” of Scientology, if you have time.
Since they hide assets by purchasing, building, or renovating real estate, how do they ever re-coup the “value” of their investment, since they never sell any of their property, and there are expenses involved in “keeping the lights on”, even thought the buildings stand empty and unused ?
Thanks,
Dave F.
Mike Rinder says
hey’re not hiding assets — they are in plain sight. They do this because it is considered a legitimate purpose to spend their accumulated wealth on. Spending it on things they cannot retain (like food and shelter for the homeless etc etc) is not the scientology way. So, this is a “solution”. They do not care about the real world — this keeps the stats of “Total Sea Org Reserves” up because buildings count on that stat along with holdings in cash and precious metals…
Kyle says
How many people outside of COBagge see those numbers?
PeaceMaker says
The CofS is also never going to recoup their investment in buildings, as most of them are oddball properties that would be hard to sell, that until recent years they often paid too much for – now they buy the ugliest cheap office park properties that no one else wants, which down the line will be worth little more than the value of the land they sit on. The buildings have been remodeled inside in unusual configurations with extravagant features that no future buyer would want, and so will likely be discounted down to the value of the shell of the structure, under the presumption that they would have to be gutted and re-done for new tenants.
The “ideal” org campaign seems to be more a way to burn money to try to keep the IRS off Scientology’s back, and keep the true believers distracted with the illusion of “expansion.” The financial analyst John P. Capitalist also views it as an asset-destroying gambit, not an asset-preserving one.
Wynski says
Hubtard set it up so that it would always be about the money and nothing else.
Xenu's Son says
I could handle the Hubtard times in the late seventies and early eighties. Paid a service, got a result that was(somewhat) acceptable to me, bought the next one. Davey times, sec checks, shakedowns strong-arm tactics. and no service.
Old Surfer Dude says
Hasn’t it always been about money? From the very start?
Mary Kahn says
The most obvious mistake about IRS granting 501c# status is that it requires no transparency, no open books, no proof of contributing to the common good. It’s such a disservice to the tax payers – and to children and other living things.
Old Surfer Dude says
Yep, Mary, it’s still and always will be, ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! Scientology is truly EVIL. To bad they can’t see it. But, again, Scientology IS shrinking. And it continues to do so.
Ashley says
Seriously the church don’t have to have any transparency when it comes to their finances and what they do with them? That is unbelievable this church has the absolute freedom to do what ever it wants because of tax exemption. The fact that I have seen this group commit so many crimes in just about every way they can I cannot understand why no.1 they don’t lose the exception and 2. Why the police haven’t charged David Miscavige with assault. How many more stories about the same things have to be told? What is it going to take before something is actually done. Do they have to kill somebody before the police take it seriously. It is so outrageous that they claim to be a charitable church they have never donated food or shelter, clothes etc. Just more pointless buildings so they can keep every penny in the church.
Nan B says
Give the IAS money so they can fight for and protect children….oh please, the money goes to Miscavige, and he hates kids.

Skyler says
Interesting that they seem to now be trying to target people in impoverished nations. These people seem to me to not only be impoverished, but they are also uneducated and lack in all manner of basic human needs and freedoms.
It may be true these people have little defense against the horrible mind-controlling organizations. But it also seems they have little or nothing to contribute to The Scam except for their own bodies and their abilities to do physical labor.
I wonder if we will now see a shift in The Scam’s strategy with new “members” that will effectively rope them into slaves to fulfill sexual needs of people who can pay. This would be a strategy that is completely creepy and stupid because it would be a fairly easy way for them to go to the penitentiary.
But if The Scam offers a cut of the money they can grab by selling these poor unfortunate children into sexual slavery, maybe the governments of these impoverished nations just might turn a blind eye and allow their young people to be sold into slavery in return for a very small amount of money. If so, it might allow The Monster to escape the prison cell where he belongs.
I recently saw a wonderful film starring Mira Sorvino called “Human Trafficking” 2005. It showed how easy it is for an organized ring of terrible criminals to make huge profits by enslaving young children and selling them or renting them to people all over countries where people can afford to pay a little money for their own personal sexual slaves.
It is incredibly disgusting. But it seems to me to be right up the alley of this despicable scam. I just wonder if they will change gears and move into some completely new scam now. If so, that could be a terrific topic for Mike & Leah to attack and attempt to have the organizers sent to the penitentiary and have the victims sent back home or sent somewhere they can get an education and live healthy and happy lives.
PeaceMaker says
Impoverished nations often have wealthy, corrupt elites who are prone to being scammed themselves*, and are typically seeking first-world status in a variety of ways. So there may well be a good number of “whales” that Scientology can pick up with the sort of angles it current works, in such countries; the CofS isn’t making headway with the general population anywhere, anyway.
* Interesting new research shows that many scammers are themselves vulnerable to being taken advantage of by other clever con men, in contrast to what might be assumed
Kyle says
I think that is part of the component of the NOI/$cilon relationship.
My money is on NOI for the long con.
Skyler says
Especially if The Monster dies or is sent to the pen and someone else has to take over suddenly who lacks any training or has not thought about what is needed to run the scam.
NOI would be in a better position because some degree of organization is bound to be better than no organization.
Chris Shugart says
That’s very cynical conjecture, Skyler. I’m kind of surprised that I didn’t think of it. It does align with what we know too well. “It’s worse than you think.”

A long time ago I remember seeing a fake get rich quick book ad in National Lampoon that showed a televangelist holding the hand of a starving African villager…it said “Learn how to get every person in the world like this to give you a dollar”. It hardly matters if they are rich if enough of them give a little.

I think it’s being seen for what it is by most who have left in droves now. It’s the few, the newbies maybe, but the mainly the whales who don’t dare back out of the insanity and they do have the money. Probably easier to pay than confront leaving. But Dugan did so…. But I think the above two posters/policy are a brilliant catch! There it is in their own writing!!! Good one!!
Skyler says
Hello Rosemarie,
I’m afraid that I didn’t understand to whom you were referring in your post when you spoke of “the above two posters/policy”. Were you referring to the poster that was titled, “Yet here is what the IAS promotes”?
If not, could you explain what it is that you consider to be a “brilliant catch”? Thank you in advance.
cindy says
A recent person who left one of the SO’s in the LA area said that it is so hard to recruit staff members that besides getting foreigners in, now they are going to the streets and getting poor people who are in dire circumstances to join based on the lies: free room and board, money paid such as salary or hourly wages, and advancement into executive status and training. These are promises being made to get down and out people to come in on staff. It is a huge change from the “many are called; few are chosen” posters that used to be everywhere, and it shows how hard it is to get staff and how desperate they are to get staff now. Turns out the salary they promised was about $35 a week, which is less than staff were being paid back in the 80’s.
Skyler says
I would guess this scam will have a very difficult time recruiting anyone who has read about it or seen some site on the Net that discusses the scam.
Unfortunately, many nations that are extremely impoverished and whose residents have little or no education, may never have heard anything about the scam and they would be vulnerable – albeit to a small degree. When it comes to human slavery, it seems to me that many nations are in a position similar to nations in the 14th, 15th or 16th century and their residents will have little defense when the creeps come calling and promise them either employment or modelling contracts in distant countries when they are really going to be sold into sexual slavery. It’s difficult to believe the FBI or some other United Nations organization that watches out for organized sex slavery rings is not in a position to take immediate action against creeps like the ones who run this scam. We really need people like Mike & Leah to make it known via means like their TV show that this horrible kind of slavery that was rampant in the 14th, 15th and 16 centuries is still going here and now in the 21st century.
